Dailing 911 (What's the number for 911?)

Locate the phone receiver.

Pick up the receiver.

Turn the receiver so that the antenna is up or the cord down.

Put receiver to ear and listen for dial tone.
    (if no dial tone, press on button)

Use pointer finger to press the "9" button (or turn dial with finger in the "9 hole").

Use pointer finger to press the "1" button.

Press the "1" button again.

Wait for person to answer.

Tell him/her that you have an emergency and give your address.

Answer questions.

Leave the phone off the hook unless told by the 911 operator to hang up (some communities have "call finder" which can locate addresses if the phone is left off the hook).
